Swobbee and Voi to cooperate in Europe

Jul 10, 2023

Swedish micromobility provider, Voi, and Berlin-based Battery-as-a-Service provider, Swobbee, have announced a three-year partnership aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of battery swapping for e-scooter sharing. Building on their successful collaboration in previous projects, the companies plan to establish charging and swapping stations across Europe. To kick off their cooperation, Voi and Swobbee have deployed two stations in Hamburg, each capable of accommodating 20 exchangeable batteries.

“We’ve already set up a decentralized system in Hanover, Nuremberg, and Berlin. In Hamburg, we’ve placed the stations in the popular Schanzenviertel district to enable us to carry out as many swaps as possible directly on-site.”

Ariel Schäffer, Head of Operations Germany at Voi

The partnership between Voi and Swobbee signifies an important step towards advancing sustainable micromobility and underscores the importance of Hamburg as a key mobility stronghold for Voi. With nearly 10 million trips taken since the introduction of their e-scooters in May 2019. Hamburg is Voi’s second most popular city in Germany, trailing only behind Berlin in terms of rides. In response to the growing demand for flexible mobility services, Voi is actively engaging with local authorities to advocate for regulated operations.
