Voi collaborates with Jelbi on a safety training at VELOBerlin

Apr 14, 2022

We are very proud to announce that, on the 9 and 10 April, our German HQ successfully conducted another safety training in collaboration with Jelbi at VELOBerlin on the Tempelhofer Feld.

Voi’s partnership with Jelbi

We have been proud partners with BVG – Berlin’s municipal public transport authority – since 2020. Jelbi is BVG’s digital mobility app, which works on integrating local public transport with our Voi scooters and other  micromobility operators. VELOBerlin

VELOBerlin is one of Germany’s leading cycling fairs where it was exciting to see a  diverse range of micromobility operators represented this year. There were 200 exhibitors representing more than 300 brands, and approximately 15,000 visitors and we were proud to be participants at such an important event.

Safety training

Since e-scooter usage rose significantly in Germany in 2021, and is continuing to grow during 2022, it is important to increase safety measures accordingly. Voi is, therefore, engaging in organising an ongoing series of e-scooter safety training sessions, such as the one at Tempelhofer Feld.

Vision Zero

In order to reach Vision Zero, we believe that it is vital to invest in rider education around safety. Initial surveys indicate that a lack of traffic knowledge is one of the primary risk factors in e-scooter use.

In our safety training sessions we are, therefore, prioritising the educational aspects around micromobility. These include a theory session on rules of the road, as well as a practical session on how to ride e-scooters, park them responsibly and other riding tips, all carried out under the supervision of experts.

As part of our safety campaign, we also highlight the dangers of riding while intoxicated. At the safety events, we simulate riding e-scooters while under the influence, with participants looking through a pair of goggles designed by alcohol and drug abuse centres in Germany.
