We are proud to have signed the UK Armed Forces Covenant, a written commitment to recognise the value of serving personnel, while supporting the employment of veterans, reservists, veterans and their families. Consequently, we have expanded our Voi 4 Heroes Pass to include these important members of our UK Voi communities.

Up until now, the Voi 4 Heroes Pass gave 50% off a Monthly Pass to NHS and emergency service workers. This expansion to include the Armed Forces in this offer is another step on our roadmap to creating an inclusive micromobility sector and working towards Sustainable Development Goal 10 on reduced inequalities. This discount rate for the Armed Forces also furthers our mission to democratise e-scooters and make them affordable for all.

The new Voi 4 Heroes discount also aligns with the Armed Forces’ key principles to ensure that those who serve or have served, including their families, should face no disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services, compared with any other citizen.

Jack Samler, General Manager at Voi UK and Ireland, said: “We know that many within the Armed Forces are already using Voi, and it was an honour to join Captain John Groves RA at Blighmont Barracks in Southampton to sign the Covenant and take our support to this community a step forward. Through this agreement, we will offer people who serve, or have served our country discounted rides with Voi, recognising their service to the nation, and we will be supporting them and their close family with career opportunities.”

Voi 4 Heroes take-up in the UK

Since we launched our e-scooters in the UK, in September 2020, Voi 4 Heroes Passes have been well received by UK communities, with over one million rides taken to date with discounted rides. Having signed the Covenant at Blighmont Barracks in Southampton, we are looking forward to the military personnel based there to lead the way in enjoying our services in the Solent area.

Recruiting military veterans at Voi

One of our other agreements, as laid out in the Covenant, is to support the employment of veterans, by recognising military skills and qualifications in recruitment processes. This certainly aligns with our value to ‘build with empathy’ and, as our presence continues to grow in the UK, we will be excited to include veterans in our search for talent.

Other discount Voi Passes

This new addition to the Voi 4 Heroes pass complements our Voi-4-All Pass for riders in low income groups, and also Voi 4 Students, both of which give significant discounts on Monthly and Daily Passes.

Andrew Gibbs, South East Regional Employer Engagement Director, said: “On behalf of my Chief Executive we are very pleased that Voi has signed the Armed Forces Covenant and is showing their support for the Armed Forces community. Voi is joining many organisations throughout the UK both public and private sector and the third sector who basically are quite simply giving their support to the Armed Forces, their families and Veterans and to be fair to all. By supporting us, Voi is now part of a community of over 8600 and this number grows every day.”
